This camera has been changed to the 'SD1 Merrill'. The pricing has gone down to less than 1/3 of the original price. The problem with this ad is that it is for the original release which was overpriced beyond all imagination. As of my writing there are no 'SD1 Merrill' listed on Amazon.

Prices have gone down cosiderably. In Australia there are special offers for the SD1 Merrill for just 1999.- AUD!!!Before buying, you have to compare. Have a look at the Sigma Homepage, for the latest pricing!!!This rating is for the price, not for the product. It is unbelievable, that there are still stores, which offer the camera for the previous much higher price, even months after the reduction!!!

This is not a review of the Aluminum bodied dSLR "Sigma SD1 camera" nor its sister with a magnesium alloy body,this is a 1 star review of Adorama Camera Store for messing on the virtual floor of this virtual camera store. http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/seller/at-a-glance.html?ie=UTF8&seller=A17MC6HOH9AVE6 Adorama Camera Store generally gets things right, but this time there is a rotten fish smell in the air.Adorama's claimed List Price: $9,700.00Adorama's offer Price: $6,899.00You can buy direct from the Sigma Store for about a third of this Adorama price The Sigma-photo price for their own camera is $2,299.00 C25900 SD1 Digital SLR $2,299.00[...] I have not tried writing Adorama Camera to try to find out how they messed this up so badly, but it is not a typical goof-up of them. I have several pieces of photo equipment from Adorama, good gear at good prices. They are usually very honest and trustworthy.
