This kit gave us pretty much what we expected, so we have no disappointment in its challenges. With the right attitude, it's a lot of fun; it takes you and your high-zoot digital camera back a few decades!!! (My girlfriend put the extra !!!s in!) We give it five stars because it's easier and cheaper to use this lens kit on a DSLR than to shoot film in a Holga camera. Ha! This review concerns the "normal" lens in the kit, not the pinhole version, which is of course a long-exposure tripod-only item. It's the normal lens that invites the kind of casual fun shooting that the Holga literature illustrates.Since the Holga lens can't communicate with the DSLR's electronics, there can obviously be no exposure or focusing information passed to the body. This means you'll be zone-focusing (there are four "scene-type" markings on the barrel), while for figuring exposures, you can bring an external meter or just make lucky guesses.The lens's coverage of the sensor plane is such as to vignette a bit (noticeably but not unattractively) when mounted on a crop-frame Canon DSLR, which is to say everything from the Rebel line up through the 7D. On a full-frame body such as a 5-series or 1Ds, vignetting is more extensive, with much of the frame unexposed.As the lens has a fixed aperture of (roughly!) f/8, the view through the finder is rather dark, but again this would be expected. It's bright enough to frame your subject, and since you can't focus optically anyway, but only via the four "zones" marked on the barrel, the darkness of the view has no additional disadvantage.Because of the fixed f/8 aperture, you'll need to set a fairly high ISO if you want hand-holdable shutter speeds in any light other than full sun. If you don't have an external light meter, the way to handle the exposure uncertainty is to shoot RAW images, never JPEGs. This gives you the ability to mend fairly wide exposure misses in post-processing.Image quality is very...Holgaized: Nothing is very contrasty, object edges are softened and sometimes color-fringed, and sharpness is noticeably greater near the center of the frame than in its outer regions. If that's not the effect you're after...well, Canon has lots of lenses for you!

I've got a Canon 1000D DSLR (aka Rebel XS). I bought the Canon mount Holga Lens kit. It fits perfectly fine but you don't see anything in your view finder, especially for the pinhole . It's all black even with the flash on. As for the Holga lens, the pictures are a little bit viewable with the flash on. Without the flash... forget about it. The reason why I gave it 2 stars is because of its potential. It could be a great tool, but in this case, it made feel such a tool for buying this kit when no one has even reviewed it yet. What a waste!UPDATE:After a few more weeks tinkering with this thing... I've ugraded my rating. The reason for the low rating was because I was an ignorant douche (sorry HOLGA people-- there ought to be an instruction manual put together in the box). This is a great product. You normally can't see almost anything with a pinhole lens or any pinhole lenses for that matter. Using it, you'll need a tripod and a very slow shutter speed. It's best for shooting pictures at daytime. For the Holga 60mm lens... now this lens is the real "LOMO" lens, in my opinion, if you want to recreate that lomography look on your photos. I was able to purchase Diana F+ lenses, while they can recreate that "Dreamy" effect that plastic lenses are known for, the pictures on the box doesn't represent the actual result of the pictures taken off the lenses. Those pictures, however, are better represented by the Holga 60mm lens. The filters that comes along in this kit just adds to your creative arsenal. I've also seen some people shoot videos with the Holga 60mm lens on youtube. The lens gives it a nice vintage reel effect.I hope this review has been helpful to those of you who are considering this lens. I am not a professional photographer. Just an enthusiast and hobbyist.

Guess I did the same thing as the other reviewer.... I was frustrated at first because I couldn't see anything then found there is a tiny lens cap on side the connects to camera. I like the filters. Lots of fun outdoors. I used them photographing still objects.
